iSuppli Pegs The Apple TV’s Parts List At $64

The Apple TV isn’t much more than a Samsung-made A4 processor, 8GB of flash memory, and a connectivity chip. iSuppli says those components along with the casing and power supply only costs $ 63.95. Not too shabby considering the original $ 300 Apple TV contained $ 237 worth of parts and was sold at a 20% manufacturing margin. The new one retails for $ 100, which works out to 35% above the cost of the parts. Of course that’s not pure profit for Apple seeing how the price of the device also covers R&D along with marketing, but at least the parts are cheap and Apple’s margin improved over the previous generation.

Here’s How To Watch Hulu On Google TV

Hulu and Google TV aren’t supposed to get along. You’re not supposed to be able to access the site via the included web browser. But you can. You can watch Hulu on a Google TV unit if you really want to. All it takes is about five seconds of your time — hacking and modding not required.

We have no way of verifying if this actually works as our Google TV units are still in the mail, but according to GadgetWhore.org, all you need to do is change a value in the Google TV backend.

Once changed, Hulu.com and all its lovely videos are unblocked, resulting in Internet video nirvana. Of course this workaround might not be around for long. So let’s keep this quiet, m’kay? I won’t tell anyone if you don’t.

[Thanks for the tip, Nate!]

Boxee Gains United Football League Live Streaming App

Boxee, the social network-y media center for Windows, Mac, and Linux, has a fancy new App that may interest you, particularly if you’re a sports fan. It allows you to watch live games of the United Football League right from within the Boxee software.

The league, which began last year, is made up of five teams, and is aimed at people who either A) just want more football in their life or B) want an alternative to the overproduced, extravagant NFL. Real, “bone-crushing football,” if you will.

Raise your hand if this at all sounds like Vince McMahon’s XFL to you. That was quite literally the first thought that popped into my head. “Oh, boy, all I need to see is the word ‘extreme’ in there and we’re all set.”

The games air (in HD, mind you) via the App at the same time they air on Versus or HDNet.

The first such game that will be streamed via the App will take place tomorrow evening at 11pm.

Neat if you’re a pigskin fan.
